On Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, Barbara Wyllie placed her hand in the hand of her Lord Jesus Christ, and they walked into glory together. She was surrounded by her adopted family, her pastor and his wife, and loving nurses at CMMC who gave the best of care to Barbara for the past month; with hymns sung, scripture read, prayers offered, she peacefully entered into the kingdom of heaven to receive her reward; those blessed words that all God’s children long to hear: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Born in 1945, Barbara lived in Warren all her growing years, attending Warren schools, and was a faithful member of the 2nd Congregational Church of Warren, where she went through Sunday school and youth fellowship.
She was an avid ’60s oldies music fan, and attended all Warren Street and school dances through the ’60s; tearing up the dance floor with her delightful, always happy spirit. She had a special taste for Moody’s Diner, peanut butter pie, and Pepsi.
For a time she lived in Rockland, and spent the last 15 years at the Waldoboro Green boarding home, where she was a blessing to all the residents, and a faithful attendant to the Bible study group along with other residents.
Barbara’s specialty was her skill with the knitting needles and her crochet talent. She and her pastor went to the Barbara Bush wing of the Maine Medical Center in Portland with boxes of knitted hats, mittens, booties, and sweaters for children, and again she went with her beloved friend, Kim to meet Barbara Bush. She and her pastor also went to the Veterans Nursing Home of Augusta with boxes of lap afghans, hats, mittens, and sweaters. She and her beautiful spirit of joy and love for all will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be a celebration of life service for Barbara at the West Waldoboro Community Church, 850 Bremen Road, Waldoboro, where she has been a member for the past 10 years, on Sunday, Dec. 8, starting at 9:15 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Woodman officiating.
