Bertha Brown Fowles, 96, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away July 11 at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born in Boothbay Harbor April 21, 1915, the daughter of Walter and Lottie Bridges Brown. She attended schools in Boothbay and graduated from high school in Massachusetts.
She was a former member of the Boothbay Harbor Women’s Club, loved to play bridge and bowl, and belonged to many leagues in the area.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Allan Browne; and second husband James W. Fowles Jr.
Survivors include her son Richard Browne and wife Mireena of Gresham, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Carey of Palm Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Fowles’ request, her services will be private.
