Bertha H. Jones, 82, died Oct. 17 at Boothbay Green in Boothbay. She was a brave and strong woman as she fought her diabetes over the years. She was born Sept. 12, 1933 to Sanford and Sadie (Powers) Winslow. Bertha lived her entire life in Boothbay Harbor and attended local schools.
She worked at Atlantic Edge as a seafood picker for many years. She was wonderful homemaker who always enjoyed having fun with her son, Billy, and her daughter-in-law, Donna. She loved to watch movies, and decorate for the holidays. Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clinton W. Jones Sr.; and sisters, Nellie Baker, Dora and Doris Winslow, and Sally Splude.
She is survived by her son, Clinton W. “Billy” Jones Jr. and wife Donna of Boothbay Harbor; niece, Linda Baker of Indiana; and several great-nieces and nephews
A memorial service to celebrate Bertha’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., Oct. 22 at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay with Pastor Ami Sawtelle officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Nobleboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 45 Forest Ave., Portland, ME 04101, in Bertha’s name.
