Bessie M. Emerson, 90, of Boothbay Harbor, died at St Andrews Hospital on Feb. 24.
She was born in Boothbay Harbor on Aug. 6, 1918, the daughter of Luther Maddocks and Laura Etta Gilpatrick Pinkham.
Growing up she attended schools in the Boothbay Harbor region and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Boothbay Harbor.
She was a waitress at Emerson’s Smorgasbord and several other restaurants in town. After marriage to Harry Emerson in 1938 she considered herself a homemaker and loved to take care of her nieces and nephews.
Bessie loved to cook and dance. Spending time with her family was very important to her.
Bessie is predeceased by her husband, Harry Emerson; brothers, Bradford Pinkham, Kenneth Pinkham, and Henry Pinkham; and sisters, Estella Kelley, Lydia Simpson, and Gail Simmons.
Survivors include sisters, Marilyn Tibbetts, and Marion Jones; sister-in-law, Veula Reed; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and burial will be held in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
