Betty Crocker, of Coopers Mills, left this life Aug. 20 surrounded by her four children. Betty was born May 7, 1946, the youngest child of Delbert F. and Inez R. Sproul Brann.
In her early years she sold Grit newspapers, and was very active in Grange and 4-H, winning many ribbons for crafts and livestock. She attended Wiscasset High School, graduating with honors. She briefly attended University of Maine in Orono before marrying her first husband and starting her family.
She was a great mom who stayed home and baked cookies. During her second marriage she traveled and lived overseas and in the South before returning to Maine. She started working for the state and retired.
She loved music and she used to crank the volume on the back roads with a full car singing to her favorites. She loved the ocean and was always the last one out of the water. She loved to read and baked Christmas candies for all of her friends and coworkers and delivered them. She loved Christmas time and had an extensive Disney and ugly sweatshirt collection that she wore during the holidays.
She was predeceased by three sisters and brothers.
She is survived by children, Tracy Emerson, James Griffin and wife Gina, Sally Crocker and boyfriend Scott Williams, and Adam Crocker and wife Angela; brother, Freeman Brann; and grandchildren, Tyler and Michael Emerson, and Hayle Williams.
