Betty Hodgkins Ackerman, 87, passed away Oct. 1 at Newport Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born April 19, 1925 in Jefferson, a daughter of the late Earle and Meda (Sawyer) Hodgkins.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Hillie W. Ackerman of Portsmouth, R.I.; children, Wayne Ackerman of Warren, R.I. and Nancy Ackerman and husband Glen D. Thomas of Orlando, Fla.; grandson, Shawn Ackerman and wife Shannon of Bristol, R.I. and their children Porter Thomas and Trinity Elizabeth Ackerman; brother, Daniel Hodgkins and wife Connie of Kalamazoo, Mich.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Internment will be private.
