Betty J.N. Dore, of Dresden, passed away July 30 at Maine General Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Blaine on Aug. 7, 1928, to David D. and Lillian Noble.
A longtime resident of Dresden and devoted wife to Charlie, she loved gardening, cooking, lawn-saleing, the neighborhood children, and her grandchildren.
Betty was a switchboard operator with “Ma Bell”, a homemaker, wife and mother, and held many positions with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1989. She also did the bookkeeping for her husband’s businesses in Richmond and Dresden.
She is predeceased by her husband of almost 57 years, Charles Dore; her parents; and two brothers.
She is survived by two children, David and wife Tymbre Dore of Richmond, and Lynne McKenney of Randolph; a brother, Norman Noble of Bowdoinham; three grandchildren, Nathan and Bryan Dore, both of Richmond, and Christopher McKenney and wife Lisa of San Antonio, Tex.; 6½ great-grandchildren, Darien McKenney, Brandon Frank, Chelsea Frank, Mary McKenney, Alexis Clark, Jacob McKenney and Olivia McKenney (due in October), all of San Antonio; one aunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A small graveside service Aug. 7 at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Dresden for family and close friends.
