Beulah W. Cook, 94, of Friendship, died peacefully on Nov. 17 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.
She was born in Waldoboro on Jan. 13, 1918, the daughter of the late Adelbert and Lalia Benner Winchenbach. Educated in the local schools of Waldoboro, she was a graduate of Waldoboro High School in 1934.
On Dec. 24, 1934, she married Elden L. Cook of Friendship. They made their home in Friendship and raised five children. While raising her children she worked in several stores in Friendship for years, and later in her life she worked for the State of Maine Homemakers’ Service, currently know as DHHS, for over ten years as a state employee.
She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was also a member of the Pythian Sisters. In 2003 she was the Grand Marshal of the Friendship Day parade.
Mrs. Cook was predeceased by her loving husband Elden in 1980; daughters, Patricia Bangs and Lalia Tanner; grandson, Stevie Bangs; son-in-law, Gary Blackler; and brothers, Kenneth and Carleton Winchenbach.
She is survived by son, Louis Cook and wife Sharon of Union; daughters, Sandra Hendrix of Waxahachie, Tex. and Susan Blackler of Warren; sons-in-law, George Bangs of Gorham and Bruce Tanner of Orange, Cal.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Time of visitation 6-8 p.m., Tues., Nov. 20 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Celebration of life 1 p.m., Wed., Nov. 21 also at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.
