Beverly Louise Reimer, 85, of Augusta, died Nov. 24 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Graybirch in Augusta, following an extended illness.
She was born in Pemaquid Beach on July 17, 1924, the daughter of Kenneth and Sylvia (Lewis) Geyer.
Beverly graduated from Bristol High School and later moved to Augusta with her family where she spent the remainder of her life.
A loving mother and devoted wife, she especially treasured her time spent with family. In her earlier life, Beverly enjoyed home cooking and she made some of the best chocolate-peanut butter fudge ever. She enjoyed reading, staying abreast of current events and visiting weekend yard sales with her husband to find unique bargains.
She loved animals of all types and did volunteer work for many years to benefit the Augusta Animal Shelter. Beverly was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 205 in Augusta.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Reimer in 1991.
She is survived by her son, Donald Reimer and wife Sherry of Warren; daughters, Roberta Haig and husband Walter of Canajoharie, N.Y., and Kathy Small and husband David of Augusta; half brother, David Munsey of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the midcoast area.
Visiting 2-4 p.m., Mon., Nov. 30 at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where a celebration of her life will be 11 a.m., Tues., Dec. 1. Pastor Walter Cole from the Augusta Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
