Bill Branigan, beloved husband of Robin, beloved father of Michael and wife Jan, Matthew and wife Marianne, Andrew and wife Camincha, and foster son, Tony, passed away on July 30 in Mt. Jackson, Va.
Born in Glen Rock N.J. on July 8, 1929, Bill played high school and college football. He attended what is now Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Penn.
He held many jobs, starting with paperboy at age nine, and concluding, after 27 ½ years with the Federal government, as owner, host and breakfast chef of the Roaring Lion Bed and Breakfast on Main Street in Waldoboro from 1986-2008. Bill had always dreamed of owning and running a B&B, and these years were his happiest. While in Waldoboro, he served on the board of the Sewer District, the Medomak Valley High School board, the board of directors at Miles Hospital and Big Brothers, Big Sisters in Damariscotta.
Bill was predeceased by his oldest brother, George, in 1984, and next older brother, Bob, in 2011.
He is also survived by his younger brother, Allen and wife Susan; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; numerous grand nieces and nephews; marvelous in-laws; and numberless friends.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 11 a.m., Sun., Oct. 25 at Manor Memorial United Methodist Church in New Market, Va. For information, Marianne Branigan may be contacted at 540-740-4648.
