Brenda J. Sounier, 65, of Windsor and formerly of Randolph and Augusta, died Aug. 6 at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with her family and friends at her side. She was born in Gardiner on April 11, 1944, the fourth of 13 children of Joseph E. and Doris E Wheelock Sounier.
Brenda kept her life simple and beautiful. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She attended Windsor school as a child. Brenda was a homemaker most of her life. She was a bartender for years at the AM Vets in Augusta. She also was a member of the Eagles Club of Augusta. She loved to play in pool tournaments, having fun and grabbing a mic every now and then.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, her brother Gary Sounier and grandchild Joseph Haskell Sounier.
She is survived by her children, Mark Sounier of Fairfield, Michael Sounier of Windsor, Tammy Sounier of Pennsylvania, Leslie Sounier of Waterville, Shawn Howard of Augusta, and Doris and Jeff Paulin of Windsor; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Teya Paulin of Windsor, Aliah Sounier Moulton of Gardiner, and Michael York and Chris Reynolds of Augusta; 11 brothers and sisters, Annette and Buzzy Reed of Chelsea, Rose Marie Church of Augusta, Larry and Elaine Sounier of Augusta, Dicky and Patsy Gallagher of Augusta, Terry and Paula Sounier of Augusta, Judy Sounier of Fort Kent, Pamela and Tardy Burns of Vassalboro, Deborah Sounier of Augusta, Jerry Sounier of Bangor, Kathy and Bub Cooper of Gardiner, Karen Sounier and Ray Fuller of West Gardiner; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 4-7 p.m., Sun., Aug. 9 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Mon., Aug. 10. Burial and committal prayers will follow in the Hallowell Cemetery.
