Brian Murdock Lewis, 51, of Newcastle, passed away on the afternoon of June 30 surrounded by loved ones. Brian was born in Winchester, Mass. on May 31, 1965 to Patsy Murdock and Paul Lewis. Brian grew up in Lynnfield, Mass. then moved to Deerfield Beach, Fla.
His grandmother, Nonnie, had a huge impact on Brian; encouraging him to live a full life. Brian loved his family and spent many summers on the Cape with his grandparents. As an adult, Brian moved to Newcastle but continued to celebrate holidays with his family. In the summers, he visited his mom in Port Clyde and especially loved that she would make his favorite food, hamburgers, for his visits.
Brian led a full and active life with a strong “I can do it” attitude. He was always willing to help others and try new things. He held down a variety of jobs including bussing tables, working in a bakery, and walking dogs. His favorite job was working at Hannaford in Damariscotta for many years. Brian was a sports fanatic, and especially loved the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins. He and his best friend, Anthony Dickinson, spent many an afternoon debating players, teams, and coaching strategies.
Brian enjoyed providing community service. Recycling was very important to him, and he would offer to help others with this project. Brian also loved camping, hiking, and fishing with his friends. He was an avid fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, and Batman. He always looked forward to the fall, as Halloween was his favorite holiday. He spent hours shopping for, and decorating for, this event.
Brian’s parents predeceased him.
He is survived by sisters, Kristen Lewis of Louisiana, and Candy Lewis Evans of Florida; brother, Paul Jeffrey Lewis of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
