Brunhild G. Holzhauer, 89, passed away on the morning of Aug. 13 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility with her son by her side. Born on March 24, 1923 in Germany, she was the daughter of Arthur and Frieda Bernstein.
Brunhild grew up in Germany where she would meet her future husband, Hans-Erich Holzhauer. The couple would marry and start a family in Germany before moving to the United States in 1960. She and her husband loved the Maine coast, and decided to make it their home in the mid 1990s.
She was a very talented hand weaver and craftsperson, particularly enjoying the Colonial Arts. She carried these talents with her and used them in her work at the Sleepy Hollow Restoration in the Hudson Valley of New York.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 1994.
She is survived by her son, Wolfgang Holzhauer (Laura) of Ohio.
