Burton E. Carr, 87, of Reading, Mass., died at his home on Feb. 15. Born in Revere, Mass. on Sept. 26, 1924, he was the son of the late John and MaryJane (Webster) Carr.
Burton had been a resident of Reading for 65 years and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Reading. He worked as an inside salesman for Kaman Bearing in Woburn for 35 years then worked part time at the Burbank Ice Arena for 15 years. Burton enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing the guitar. He mostly enjoyed spending summers with his family on Damariscotta Lake boating, fishing and waterskiing. Burton was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics.
Burton was the beloved husband for 60 years to Jean (Chase) Carr. He was the devoted father of Alan C. Carr and David C. Carr, both of Taunton, Mass., Gary B. Carr of Londonderry, N.H. and Linda J. Bolt and husband Richard of Reading, Mass., and Marlborough, Mass. He was the loving grandfather of Jennifer J. Carr, David J. Carr and Nicholas C. Carr.
Burton’s funeral was Feb. 18 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home in Reading, Mass. Burial with military honors was held in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading.
