C.T. (Charles Talton) Hughes Jr., 77, of Somerset, Ky. and Newcastle, passed away Jan. 24 at his residence. He was born March 18, 1934 in Richmond, Ky. to the late Charles T. “Turkey” and Mable Gahagan Hughes. He married Sherry Williams on Aug. 25, 1960 in Lexington, Ky.
C.T. was a professor at University of Kentucky – Somerset Community College. He was a founding faculty member of Somerset Community College and was chair of the escalator committee at Somerset Country Club. He completed his post-doctrine degree at University of Tennessee. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
C.T. is survived by his wife; daughter, Hannah Hart Hughes (Steven) Vaught; sons, Charles T. “Chip” (Catherine) Hughes II, and Nathanael Gahagan (Angela) Hughes; grandchildren, Zachary Allen Vaught, Seth Marshall Vaught, Charles Hayden Hughes, and Heidi Ann Hughes; brother, William Allen (Carol) Hughes of Stratham, N.H.; and brother-in-law, Lawrence D. (Bonnie) Williams of Lexington, Ky.
Visitation 5-7 p.m., Fri., Jan. 27 at First Presbyterian Church.
Celebration honoring the life of C.T. 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 28 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allen Brimer and Rev. Jack Wilhelm.
