Calista Margaret Townsend Boyd, 81, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 26 at her home.
Born on Southport Island, Oct. 11, 1926, she was the daughter of Walter F. and Evelyn Cameron Townsend. She attended Boothbay schools, graduating from Boothbay Harbor High School, class of 1944.
Last year she and her husband Robert L. Boyd celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Boothbay Region YMCA and their Active Older Adults, the United Methodist Church of Boothbay Harbor, St. Andrews Hospital Auxiliary, and the Mt. Pisgah and Crescent Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a retired town employee who served as an assessor, secretary of the Board of Assessors, Deputy Tax Collector, and at one point, interim Town Manager. She also served as secretary to the Boothbay Region Cemetery District.
She enjoyed family gatherings, holidays, decorating, gift giving and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Boyd; son, Robert W. Boyd and wife Kitty, all of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Ann M. Boyd of Augusta; grandchildren, Cameron, Dylan, Ryan and Shane; two nephews; two nieces; and she was a proud AFS grandmother to several students hosted by son Robert and wife Kitty, including Jesper from Netherlands, Juan from Venezuela, and Berm, Mink and Aum from Thailand.
She was predeceased by a brother, Francis Townsend.

Celebration of life 11 a.m., Mon., Feb. 4 at the United Methodist Church, Boothbay Harbor with Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Zimmerli officiating.
