Camilla Edythe Glaude, 83, of Waldoboro, passed away Sept. 1 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland after a long period of failing health.
Camilla was born in Muskegon, Mich., June 15, 1928, the daughter of Roy and Thirsa Hall Sanborn. As a young child her family moved to Vinalhaven where her maternal grandfather lived. They later moved to Waldoboro where Camilla graduated from Waldoboro High School, class of 1947.
Shortly after graduating, she married Joseph A. Glaude Jr. and they made their home in Waldoboro where they raised their family.
Camilla worked at Sylvania for several years. She then went to work at Sampson’s supermarket (now Hannaford) as their bookkeeper. Camilla worked at Sampson’s for 18 years and also held several extra part time jobs.
Known as a family caretaker, she devoted herself to her loved ones. Camilla traveled with Joseph as he toured as a musician, acting as his road manager. She faithfully took care of her husband for several years following his stroke.
Camilla loved to read her Bible, drawing strength from the word of God. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and card games as well as taking daily walks.
She is predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Glaude Jr. who died in 2003, and brothers, Forrest Sanborn and Fred Sanborn.
Survivors include daughters, Kate Waltz-Hixon and husband David of Waldoboro and Juanita Thomas and husband Fred of Waldoboro; sons, Thomas Glaude and wife Lisa of Warren; Robert Glaude and wife Rita of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Beth Overlock and husband Duane of Warren, Aaron Waltz of Waldoboro, Adam Thomas and wife Kelly of Thomaston, Erica Jacobs of Waldoboro, Dylan Glaude of Warren, Mason Glaude of Augusta, Robert Glaude Jr. of Waldoboro and Chelsea Glaude of Rockland; five great-grandchildren; companion and a dear friend, Ashley Genthner of Thomaston; and close friends, Barbara and Robert Littlehale and Ernie and Jamie Bowman, all of Warren, and Earl and Louise Reynolds of Waldoboro.
Celebration of Camilla’s life 3 p.m., Sat., Sept. 3 at the Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Reverend Bob Wyand will officiate.
