Candice Jean Barter, 40, of Wiscasset, died suddenly on May 12 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
Candy, as she was known to family and friends, was born April 25, 1966 in Boothbay Harbor, a daughter of Donna Mae Emerson Durgan. She was a graduate of Boothbay Region High School, class of 1984.
She was employed for many years as the manager of the former Burger King restaurant in Boothbay Harbor.
Candy shared her love of animals, music, cooking and the outdoors with her children daily. With a little coaxing, Candy was always willing to try new things like family vacations to places like Washington, D.C. and Florida, and trips with Pat to see concerts and sporting events. Candy enjoyed spending time with her children and their friends in the neighborhood. Candy found great pleasure in attending school events and outings, all the while cheering the kids on and taking tons of photos. She found great joy in the gatherings of her extensive family. Candy was a warm, caring person and always made time to help those in need.
The children would greatly appreciate letters or notes written by family and friends sharing fond memories of their mother.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Stephen Barter, in 1994.
Survivors include her loving partner and fiancé, Patrick Connelly; the true object of her heart and soul, their four children, Kaitlin, Ashley, Madison and Mathew, all of Wiscasset; three brothers, Jeffrey Gray of Wiscasset, her twin brother Randy Durgan and his two children, Aaron and Sara Durgan of Southport, and Jody Durgan of Boothbay; two aunts, Kathy Frizzell of Alna and Cindy Lewis and husband Mark of Boothbay; great uncle Richard Poole and wife Diane of Hartland; Patrick’s parents Colman and Mary Connelly of Boothbay Harbor; sister, Patrice Connelly; and grandfather, John Grant, both of Massachusetts; also many cousins, great aunts, uncles, as well as MANY loving and caring friends.
