Carmela Adeline Cretella-Moccio, 76, of Waldoboro, died Dec. 30, 2008 at her home.
She was born May 10, 1932 in New Haven, Conn. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Gargano) and Paul Cretella.
On June 2, 1947 she married John A. Moccio Sr.
For many years Mrs. Moccio worked in the toy department of Playworld in Hamden, Conn. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hamden, Conn. She enjoyed participating with her husband in events with the Eagles Club and the Knights of Columbus. Mrs. Moccio loved horses and going for Sunday afternoon drives and raining plants. She had many plants in every room of her home.
In addition to her husband of 54 years who died April 26, 2001, she is preceded in death by two siblings, Mina LaCosse and Louis Cretella II; and two sons, Nicholas and John Jr.
Mrs. Moccio is survived by her daughter, Angela Dushane of Waldoboro; son, Thomas Moccio of New Haven, Conn.; two grandsons, Sean Dushane of Arizona, and Peter Dushane of New Haven, Conn.; and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family to celebrate Mrs. Moccio’s life 2 p.m., Sun., Jan. 18 in the Community Room at the Sproul Block, 8 Friendship St., Waldoboro. Rev. Beverly Blaisdell will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smeltzer Family Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
