Carol Mozdzierz Brody, 69, of Boothbay Harbor, died on Dec. 22 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor after a brief battle with cancer. Carol was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in Hartford, Conn. on Jan. 3, 1942 to the late Walter and Mary Szczepanik Mozdzierz. Carol previously lived in East Hartford, Conn.
Carol retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation and moved to Boothbay Harbor in 2005. An accomplished artist, she exhibited her paintings in Maine and Connecticut for many years, including an annual April show at the Farmington Library. Carol also taught in Wethersfield, Conn. and West Hartford, Conn. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University. Carol graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford in 1960.
Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her life companion, Florian “Corky” Maselek; and husband, James Brody.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Royer of Coventry, Conn.; brother, Walter Mozdzierz and wife Donna of Manchester, Conn.; nieces, Deborah Comeau and husband Mark and their daughter Valerie of Coventry, Conn., Leane Royer of Coventry, Conn., Brenda Mozdzierz of Turners Falls, Mass., and Karen Wydo and husband Walter and their children Emersyn and Tyler of Portland, Conn.; Mary Fillatti of East Hartford, Conn. and Louise Schicchi and all her other dear friends in Boothbay Harbor; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends across the country.
There are no calling hours. Funeral and burial services will be private at the convenience of the family.
