Caroline Anne Miller-Woodbury, 62, of Newcastle, went home with the Lord on July 31. Her husband, Timothy, and their children were at her side.
Caroline, the daughter of Roger and Ellen L.L. Miller of Waldoboro and Eastport, was born in Damariscotta on Nov. 22, 1946. From an early age, Caroline instilled a marvelous and contagious devotion to family and community.
During her Uncle Frederick G. Payne’s run for Governor of Maine in 1948, she displayed her zeal for assisting family and neighbors on the campaign trail at the age of two. She was frequently part of the first family gatherings at The Blaine House and on the campaign trail during Payne’s successful bids for re-election as governor and election to the U.S. Senate.
After attending the Miller School and Lincoln Academy, she followed her passion of caring for people at the West Virginia University School of Nursing. She spent many years working in hospitals and private duty nursing in West Virginia and Maine.
Caroline was also the founder and president of Woodbury & Associates, a company that provided cleaning and maintenance services to local hospitals, doctor’s offices, banks and summer houses in Lincoln County. She played the clarinet and piano. She was an avid gardener and gourmand. She took great joy riding the Harley that she shared with her husband.
She fulfilled the most special title of “Nana” to Nicholas, Megan, Emily, Derick, Christopher, Jessica, Jennifer, Tyler, Cameron, Mathew, Christina, Jay, Adam, Joshua, Gwendolyn, and Nathan.
