Carolyn Ann (Svoboda) Glenn, 63, of Thomaston, passed away at home Jan. 9 after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loving family and friends.
Born in Pittsburgh, Penn., daughter to the late Rudolph and Anna Laura (Pampena) Svoboda.
For over 30 years she worked for Phoenix Life Insurance, starting in Pittsburgh and retiring as a director of marketing in the Hartford, Conn. office. She met her husband and had two children in Pittsburgh, Penn. before moving to Simsbury, Conn.
She and her husband have owned a summer cabin in New Harbor, near Pemaquid Point, for more than 20 years and upon her retirement they moved permanently to Thomaston in 2002.
She is survived by her husband James Maddocks Glenn of Thomaston; son, Stephen Glenn of Simsbury, Conn.; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Tim Gorecki, and their son Gavin, of Granby, Conn.; brother and sister-in-law, Rudolph and Mary Lou Svoboda of Pittsburgh, Penn.; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Bill Williamson of Pittsburgh, Penn.; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Denise Svoboda of Pittsburgh, Penn.; and seven nieces and nephews.
Private family viewing was held at the Hall & Bibber Funeral Home in Thomaston. Gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date in Connecticut. Memorial service for family and friends will also be held at a later date in Pittsburgh, Penn. and a burial service will be held at the Maddocks family plot in the Hallowell Cemetery this summer in Maine.
