Carolyn B. “Carey” Conroy, 66, of Walpole, passed away at her home on Aug. 3 after a long, courageous battle with leukemia.
Carolyn was born on Aug. 18, 1942, in Oakland, Cal., to Terrance and Bernice Ehrheart. As a young child, Carey moved to Detroit, Mich., and graduated from Thurston High School. She had three younger siblings, a sister Diana, and brothers Robert and David Wilson. She moved at the age of 28, with her three small children, to Lakewood, Col.
Soon after arriving in Colorado, Carey became a Denver police officer, and remained with the Department for 26 years. She retired in 1999, as a Detective. After serving the department loyally, Carolyn moved to Maine to enjoy her retirement. She was completely enthralled by the ocean, but also loved the people, the history, the peace, and the beauty that the state had to offer. Carey was a member of the Red Hats, and worked for the Bristol Parks Department at Pemaquid Beach and Pemaquid Lighthouse Park. She also took local classes in gardening and boating, and had recently begun raising chickens.
Carolyn was predeceased by her mother, Bernice Wilson, and step-father, Robert Wilson.
She is survived by her three children, sons, Michael Conroy, of Lakewood, Col., and John and daughter-in-law, Dawn Conroy of Centennial, Col., and daughter, Beverly and son-in-law, Randy Orcutt of Pinedale, Wyo.; five loving grandchildren, Lesley Conroy of Cedar Falls, Ia., Keenan and Aidan Orcutt of Pinedale, Wyo., and Erin and Alex Conroy of Centennial, Col.; father, Terrance Ehrheart and step-mother, Cupe; as well as siblings, Diana of Michigan, Robert of Colorado, and David Wilson of Bailey, Col.
Funeral was held for Carolyn on Aug. 12 in Englewood, Col. She was buried next to her mother and step-father, in the Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, Col.
