Mrs. Carolyn D. (Drake) Toothaker, 88, wife of Carl R. Toothaker, of Woodridge, Conn. and Pemaquid Trail, died May 19 at Harborside Healthcare in Woodbridge, after a long illness.
Mrs. Toothaker was born April 10, 1918, in Gardiner, a daughter of the late Archie W. and Lena T. Drake. Prior to her retirement, she was a schoolteacher in Maine. She was a graduate of Gardiner High School and Farmington Normal School.
Mrs. Toothaker was a member of Garden Clubs of Woodbridge, Conn. and Barrington R.I., and was previously active in various youth and community activities of Bethany and Woodbridge. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bethany.
She is survived by sons, Robert C. Toothaker of Guilford, Conn., David B. Toothaker of Aurora, Ohio, and Barry C. Toothaker of Barrington, R.I.; sister, Phyllis Trafton of Gardiner; brother, Robert Drake of Vassalboro; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services Mon., May 22 at Christ Episcopal Church, 526 Amity Rd., Bethany. Burial in Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery. No calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, Conn. is in charge of the arrangements.
