Carolyn Veara, 79, passed away on May 5 with her family by her side at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta. She was born on Jan. 29, 1938 to Vernon and Annie (Byers) Carver.
She graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of 1978.
Carolyn’s interests were music, crafts, wood burning, and making special greeting cards for friends and family.
She was a member of the Word of Life Church since 1947. Carolyn’s parents were the founders of the church. She was a member of the group “Hosanna,” playing bass guitar and singing; she was also on the worship team at the church. The most cherished thing was a prayer ministry with her sister, Betty Williams. This ministry continued for the past eight years.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents and son, Harold Winchenbach III.
She is survived by daughters, Sandy Pettee and husband Robert of St. George, and Bonita Willis and husband Jack of Northport; sister, Betty Williams of Yaleville, Conn.; granddaughter, Angela Sprowl and husband David of Warren; grandsons, Matthew Hastings of Warren, and Joshua Noyes and wife Kim of Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Autumn Pettee and Tyler Pettee; great-great-grandchildren, Mya, Caitdence, and Matthew; and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Carolyn will be held at 2 p.m., Fri., May 12 at the Word of Life Church in Waldoboro, with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
