Carolyn Warner Wilson, of Boothbay Harbor, died on Nov.18, her 85th birthday. She was a resident at the Gregory Wing, St. Andrew’s Village in Boothbay Harbor.
Born in Massillon, Ohio on Nov. 18, 1925, Lynn was the daughter of Frederic and Edna (Branson) Warner. Lynn graduated from Orrville High School in Orrville, Ohio. She attended Oberlin College for two years, but transferred to Cornell University and graduated in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics. She was employed as a dietician at Western Reserve University and the Lamp Division of the General Electric Company at Nela Park in Cleveland, Ohio.
On Dec. 27, 1952, Lynn married Richard W. Wilson. While raising three children, Lynn started her second career in Christian Education in 1969. For 14 years, she was the Supervisor of Religious Education/Associate Christian Educator at the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
In 1983, Lynn became the director of a newly created Elderlife Ministry at the Federated Church.
Lynn’s talent and sensitivity for working with people of all ages led her to many other accomplishments as well. She was an assistant Girl Scout leader and active with the Cleveland Council on Human Relations. She helped found the Chagrin Falls, Ohio chapter of the League of Women Voters. Instrumental in organizing and establishing the Chagrin Falls Meals-on-Wheels program in 1976, she served for a time as the president of the Meals-on-Wheels Executive Board. She was a member of the Ohio Western Reserve Association Department of Christian Education and Nurture and she served the UCC Ohio Conference Christian Nurture Commission.
Lynn retired in 1988. She and Dick began to spend more time in their beloved Maine at Ocean Point. They moved to Boothbay Harbor permanently in 1993. Lynn was active in the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church and the YMCA. Lynn enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
Lynn was predeceased by her husband, Richard W. Wilson.
Survivors include children, Thomas Wilson and wife Cathy of Boothbay Harbor, Elizabeth Roig and husband Greg of Webster Groves, Mo. and Susan Kern and husband David of Merrimac, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service arrangements will be announced at a later date.
