Carroll F. Warren, Sr., 71, of Waldo, died Aug. 21 at Togus VA Medical Center after a long illness. He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Jackson, son of Leo and Marion (Tozier) Warren.
Warren served in the National Guard for many years as a recruiter. He was a member of Mariner Lodge of Masons, Searsport, and the Masons, Belfast. He volunteered for 20 years at Togus Hospital, was a member of Waldo County Democratic Committee and chairman of the Democratic Committee, Waldo. He was a member of Waldo Volunteer Fire Department, Belfast Lions Club and a volunteer driver for Waldo County Transportation. He served on Waldo CAP Board of Directors. In 2008, Warren was named Volunteer of the Year by Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred King of Connecticut; and his first wife, Carol M. (Boudreau) Warren of Cambridge, Mass.
He is survived by his second wife of 45 years, Sandra K. (Harding) Warren of Waldo; sons, Carroll F. Warren, Jr., of Waldo, and Robert Warren and wife Cheryl of Swanville; daughters, JoDell M. Warren of Waldo, and Cheryl (Warren) Bailey and husband Arthur of New Harbor; brothers, Albert Warren of Searsport, Walter Warren of Texas, and Forrest Warren of Belfast; granddaughters, Cali-Kay Warren of Waldo, Sonni-Jo (Warren) Guthrie and husband David of Old Town, Tracey (Chadwick) Manning and husband Jeramiah of Bristol, Amber (Bailey) Hutchins and husband Keith of Louisiana, Denise (Norton) Carroll and husband Brian of Swanville, and Carol (Sulzer) Crane and husband Steve of Tennessee; grandsons, Casey Chadwick and wife Jessica, Justin Bailey and wife Jenny, all of Bristol, and Aaron Bailey of New Harbor; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Masonic and military services 2 p.m., Thurs., Aug. 27 at Paul Yard Cemetery, Birches Rd., Waldo. Public memorial service with potluck dinner 2 p.m., Sun., Aug. 30 at the Masonic Hall, Northport Ave., Belfast.
