Charles “Charlie” A. Erskine, 75, of Pittston, passed away after a long illness, on the evening of May 18 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, with his wife Iris and his dear friend Arnie by his side.
He was born March 31, 1943 in Newcastle, a son of the late Harold and Theolyn (Rumill) Erskine. He graduated Lincoln Academy and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1964 as a machinist.
Charlie was a farmer and self-employed in the concrete business. He enjoyed pulling his own horses and oxen at local fairs. He loved lawn sales and his time at farmers’ markets where he sold his goods.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Beverly.
Charlie is survived by wife of more than 20 years, Iris Erskine of Pittston; nieces, nephews and cousins; and Arnie Hall of Jefferson, who was like the son Charlie never had.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service to celebrate Charlie’s life at 11 a.m., Thurs., May 24 at the Whitefield Cemetery, Wiscasset Rd., Whitefield. Rev. Richard Newell will officiate.
