Charles “Charlie” Peter Abbott passed away unexpectedly Nov. 16 while doing what he loved. He was born July 13, 1950 in Damariscotta to Willard and Mary (Marston) Abbott.
Charlie attended Wiscasset schools and graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1968. After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served three tours during the Vietnam War as a sniper. Then he joined the U.S. Army and served our country during Desert Storm, again as a sniper. He returned home and attended the University of Maine in Augusta where he studied computer science and forestry.
Following his 20-year service in the military, Charlie once again returned home and met Jennie Carter while the two were working at Hannaford. The couple later married on Sept. 19, 1998 on his family’s farm in Wiscasset.
Charlie loved to ride his Harley, working on his family’s farm, woodworking, drawing, and reading books. He also spent a lot of time volunteering at the VA in Togus helping out his fellow veterans.
