Charles E. Cushing, 59, of Wiscasset, formerly of Boothbay Harbor, died Aug. 23 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness.
Mr. Cushing was born Feb. 6, 1947 in Boothbay Harbor, the son of William and Marion Huskins Cushing, and graduated from Boothbay Region High School, class of 1965.
A longtime public servant, he served as a police officer in many Lincoln County towns, including Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta and Waldoboro, and as a member of the Sheriff’s Department, patrol division, for over 20 years. He was currently serving as the bail bondsman for Lincoln County, a position he held for many years.
Mr. Cushing was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and will be remembered as a person who helped others through their struggles with alcoholism, which was very important to him.
Survivors include three sons, Timothy of Boothbay Harbor, Arthur and wife Holly of Walpole, and Shane of Westport; five grandchildren, Troy and Rachel of Boothbay Harbor, and Ashley, Nicole and Megan of Walpole.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
