Charles W. Rittall Sr., 90, of Dresden, died on Sept. 25 at Maine Medical Center, Portland.
He was born in Dresden on March 4, 1926, the son of William and Gladys Rittall.
Charles worked at Eaton Shoe in Richmond for over 20 years. He later worked at BIW in the tin shop for over 20 years as well.
He enjoyed working in his workshop, going to Molly’s basketball games, reading, watching the show Survivor, and growing tomatoes, squash and cukes.
Charles was very proud of his family’s boatbuilding heritage and at 69 years old attended the Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Bristol.
Charles was predeceased by his parents; sister, Barbara Millett; son-in-law, Dwight Cook; and grandson, Michael Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred Rittall of Dresden; daughters, Estelle Cook of Dresden, Stephanie Haskell of Dresden, Cheryl Martin-Begin and husband Doug of Richmond; son, Charles Rittall Jr. of Farmingdale; sister, Madeline Tozier of Monmouth; grandchildren, Frank Anderson and wife Brandie of Ellsworth, Shanna McNeil and husband Eric of Dresden, Duane Martin of Utah, and Molly Haskell of Arizona; and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Spencer, Avery, Braxton, John and Marcus.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 1-2 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 29 at the funeral home with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Dresden.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
