Charlotte Frances Nichols, 81, passed away on June 10, 2019 at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus, with her family by her side.
Charlotte was born on June 19, 1937 in Medway, Mass., daughter of Francis Szymanski and Elsie (Savage) Szymanski. Charlotte grew up in Medway and attended local schools and graduated high school. She graduated from Catherine Laboure School of Nursing in Massachusetts and became an RN. She moved to Maine in 1972. Charlotte had eight children and made their home in Waldoboro. She worked 28 years at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro and also worked at other area hospitals over the years.
Charlotte enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed going to Bingo. She was a Cub Scout leader when the children were younger. She had a huge heart for taking in stray animals. She always had farm animals while the kids were growing up. She was also a harness race horse owner.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Charlotte is predeceased by her parents; and sons, Peter Collins, Bruce Nichols, Chris Nichols and Scott Nichols.
She is survived by sons, Bill Collins and wife Lori of Appleton, Steve Collins and wife Laurie of Waldoboro, and Thomas Nichols and partner Donna Johnson of Warren; daughter, Kelly Nichols and partner Phillip Libby of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Will Collins, Hillary Jackson, Blake Nichols, Hannah Collins, Gregory Collins, Breanna Nichols and Charlotte Nichols all of Waldoboro; four great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, April Nichols of Waldoboro.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 17 at the German Cemetery in Waldoboro, with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
