On June 7, 2024, Charlotte Cooke Hollenberg, 83, of Union, passed away after a long illness.
Born in New York City to Thomas Turner Cooke and Elizabeth Throckmorton, of Morristown, N.J., Charlotte spent her youth in Morristown and later moved to the family summer home in Newcastle. In 1996, Charlotte and her husband, David Shepard, then moved to the old Grange Hall in Union, where she opened Quarry House Antiques.
She had a lifelong enthusiasm for history and earned a B.S. degree in psychology from the University of Houston, with a minor in philosophy, and later a master’s in psychology from Columbia University.
Her hobbies included gardening, canning, antique hunting, and the restoration of her beloved Seven Tree Grange Hall in Union. She was a member of the Grange and the Historical Society of Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Shepard; parents; and her oldest son, Curtis Winston. She is survived by children, George Shannon, of New Jersey, David Acord, of Walpole, and her daughter, Jennifer Lariccia, of Atlanta, Ga.
There will be a gravesite service at Lakeview Cemetery in Union, on Saturday, June 22 at 1 p.m., followed by a gathering at her home at Quarry House, 108 Common Road, in Union, from 2-4 p.m. Friends and family are all welcome to attend.
