Chester L. Douglass III died unexpectedly July 27 in Belleview, Fla. He was born Dec. 30, 1933 in Whitefield to Bernice and Chester Douglass II of Whitefield.
Chester (Doug) served 15 years in the USAF, was self-employed in various fields and later became a heavy equipment operator. He had a colorful life filled with friends and family. His greatest joy was his Trash N Treasure shop called, “Chester’s Barn”. He also enjoyed time spent with his Jack Russell Terrier, “Buffy”.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Louise M. Dalton; and brother, William E. Douglass.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby of Belleview, Fla.; son, Chester L. Douglass IV of Sumter, S.C.; step-children, Todd Deas of Atlanta, Ga., Marie Marr of Clover S.C., Dorie Spidel of Pocatella, Ida., and Dale Spidel of Sumter, S.C.; brother, Richard A. Douglass of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Fondy York of Nobleboro, Marjory Taylor of Ocala, Fla., and Mary Grady of Whitefield; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted July 29 at Grace Baptist Church in Belleview, Fla.
