Christa A. Colby, 58, of Portland, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 23 at Maine Medical Center from heart failure.
She was born in Damariscotta, April 5, 1949, the daughter of Kenneth and Jeanette Bailey Colby.
She attended Lincoln Academy in Newcastle and spent her junior year abroad as an AFS student in Turkey. She received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University in 1971. She then went on to study architecture for six years at The Ecole Des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France where she specialized in urban planning. It was in Paris where she met her husband, Bertrand Voyer. They divorced several years later.
She is survived by her son, Matthieu Voyer of Paris, France; sisters, Connie Smith and husband Lee of Exeter, N.H. and Cynthia Dodge of Westport Island; nieces, Alexa Abbott of Westport Island and Valerie Farkas of Geneva, Ill.; and nephews, Benjamin Dodge of Shiprock, N.M., Todd Smith of Orlando, Fla. and Scott Smith of Cohasset, Mass.
A private burial will be held in France in the springtime.
