Christie Warren Bartle, 69, of South Bristol, passed away on July 30 surrounded by her loving family. Christie was born in Erie, Penn. on Aug. 3, 1942. The eldest daughter of Joseph and Sarah Warren, she was a graduate of Greenwich Academy and attended Elmira College.
On May 27, 1967, she married Robert Lewis Bartle in Riverside, Conn. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the island of St. Croix where Christie became a travel agent, retiring over 20 years later as the owner of Compass Rose Travel in Littleton, N.H. While on St. Croix, she gave birth to a son, Mark. A few years later, the young family moved to Dalton, N.H. where she and her husband built a log cabin, and Christie gave birth to her second son, Rick.
In the years that followed, time was spent in Littleton, N.H., Guilford, Conn. and a return to the island of St. Croix where Christie became deeply involved with the St. George Village Botanical Garden, ultimately serving as President for three years. In 2010, she and Robert moved to South Bristol where Christie’s parents had lived for 30 years.
Christie enjoyed a lifetime of travel, boating, gardening and community involvement.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; sons, Mark and Rick; sister, Nan; daughter-in-law, Katarina; and grandsons, Samuel and Jacob.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and information for that will be forthcoming.
