Christopher Edward Benner, 30, of Bath, originally of Pemaquid, passed away unexpectedly on March 3 at his home. Born on April 28, 1979 in Damariscotta, he was the son of Edward A. (Buzz) and Terri J. Benner.
Chris graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle in 1998. During his years at Lincoln he excelled in Track and Field, coming in second place in the Class B State Championship in long jump his sophomore year, and first place his junior and senior years. He broke the Lincoln Academy long jump record, which had been held for 35 years. He had a great love for all types of music and poetry and enjoyed writing.
Chris was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Mathias Benner.
He is survived by his parents of Pemaquid; sister, Stephanie Vincentsen and husband Todd of New Harbor; brothers, Matthew Benner and wife Leigh of Jefferson, Joseph Benner and wife Kerrie of Bristol, Robert Benner and partner Michelle of Pemaquid Harbor, and Thomas Benner of Pemaquid; maternal grandparents, Richard and Mille Reid of Edgecomb; paternal grandmother, Alice Barstow and husband Henry of Bristol; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris was a loving and affectionate uncle to Josh, Jimmy, Heather, Tally, Amber, Andrea, Mason, Elizabeth and Gabrielle.
Private graveside service March 8 at the Bristol Mills Cemetery, and memorial service was held that same day at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home.
