Christopher Roberts Coxe, 75, of Port Orange, Fla., died Dec. 31, 2010.
Born March 31, 1935, in Stamford, Conn. to the late Campbell Roberts Coxe and Urling (Valentine) Coxe, Chris was a true “people person.” He made friends for life wherever he went, starting at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, Conn.; in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served his country for four years; and at various positions he held, whether it was as a scientific instruments salesman in Norwalk, Conn., owner of the Brightside Market in East Boothbay; ad salesman for the Brunswick Times-Record (from where he retired in 2002); or, most recently at the Daytona (Florida) Auto Auction.
Throughout his life, Chris was an avid sailor. He was a proud member and past commodore of the South Daytona Model Yacht Club.
He is survived by wife, Barbara; children, Karen C.L. Anderson and husband Timothy Anderson of New London, Conn., Holly Coxe Brittingham and husband Joshua Brittingham of Pawtucket, R.I. and Christopher R. Coxe Jr. and wife Kelly Coxe of Matthews, N.C.; sister, Mary Mallory of Lebanon, N.H.; one nephew; three nieces; and former spouses, Cynthia Griffin of Searsport and Elizabeth Elder of Owings Mills, Md.
He is also survived by Barbara’s son, Paul Ellis of Middleboro, Mass. and grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson of Warwick, R.I., Bryan Anderson of Greenville, S.C., Jessica Carlson and husband Sam Carlson of Groton, Conn., Madison Brittingham of Pawtucket, R.I., Macy Brittingham of Pawtucket, R.I., Campbell Coxe of Matthews, N.C., Samantha Coxe of Matthews, N.C., Rachel Devine of Middleboro, Mass. and Jason Ellis of Middleboro, Mass.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery this spring on a date to be determined.
