Claire (Veronneau) McMahon, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully in her sleep Feb. 23 in Clearwater, Fla.
Born June 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Sally (Charest) Veronneau.
Claire graduated from Lauralton Hall in 1939 and worked as a bookkeeper, starting out at her father’s lumber company and then at various companies until her retirement in 1986. She loved organic gardening starting well before her time in the 70s. She continued to garden up into her late 80s at her retirement home in Waldoboro (Dutch Neck). She also enjoyed cooking, quilting, knitting, crocheting and playing the piano.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Arthur Veronneau.
Claire is survived by her children, James Wilkinson of Durham, Conn., Laurel Wilkinson of Chapel Hill, N.C., LuAnn Michaud of Bedford, Mass., Linda Naumann of Clearwater, Fla., and Lori Bentley of Meriden, Conn.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
