Clarence Brown, 80, of Waldoboro, passed away Dec. 3 at his residence after a long illness.
He was born July 19, 1926 in Caribou, the son of Charles and Beatrice Drost Brown.
After the death of his parents as a young boy, he was placed with Pineland in 1937, residing at the Valley Farm, where he learned to do farm chores. He lived there until 1964, when he began to reside at various foster homes. He worked in Warren at Hilltop Industries until 1980.
In 1980, he became associated with Mobius in Damariscotta, and began his longtime residence with Nancy Smith in Waldoboro. He most recently was employed at Hannaford in Waldoboro, fronting shelves and cleaning the store.
It was noted that when Clarence moved into Nancy’s home, it was the first time he had experienced family life. He loved to cheer the Red Sox and Sea Dogs, to dance and attend parties, and to play practical jokes on his friends. Christmas was his favorite time of year.
He is survived by his many friends at Mobius; Nancy and Allen Smith and their children and grandchildren.
Graveside service 11 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 7 at the Shuman Cemetery, with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Mobius, 319 Main St. Damariscotta, ME 04543.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro.
