Claude C. Parmenter, 78, of Southport, passed away on Sept. 24 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Claude was the son of Clayton Claude Parmenter and Anna Elizabeth Farnsworth. He was born May 20, 1940 in Boothbay Harbor.
He attended Southport and Boothbay schools. He moved to Gorham, married Janice Dickinson and was a truck driver for many years.
He later moved to Southport and when the sea called him, he became a lobsterman. In 1985 he married Patricia Greenleaf. He and Pat wintered in Florida where he enjoyed golf, tennis, playing cards and gambling.
Claude was a dog lover and often would be seen in his red truck with Cindy and Clayton’s rescue dog Humphrey.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Marlene, and Kay; and son, Christopher Parmenter.
Claude is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patricia Greenleaf; daughter, Susanne Parmenter; son, Steven Clark; stepdaughters, Cindy Pottle, and Debra Chaney; and stepson, “Uncle Bob.” Uncle Gramps also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Sept. 29 at Oaklawn Cemetery, Rt. 96, Boothbay Harbor.
