Claus Frederick Hinck, III, 83, of New Harbor, died Aug. 11 at his Mels Lane home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Montclair, N.J., a son of the late Claus F. and Luise (Hofmeister) Hinck, Jr.
He was a graduate of Montclair High School, Colby College, M.I.T., and New York University School of Dentistry.
In 1947, Claus married the former Priscilla Brooks in Damariscotta.
He was a dentist in Waldoboro, Bath and retired after 35 years in Damariscotta. He was a member of the Maine Dental Association. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, was an avid reader, and especially loved his dogs.
He is survived by three sons, Claus F. Hinck IV and wife Ann of South Bristol, Jeffrey B. Hinck of New Harbor, and Christopher S. Hinck and wife Rebecca of Newcastle; grandchildren, Claus F. Hinck V and wife Alexandra of Quincy, Mass., Ingrid L. Azzopardi and husband of Portland, and Karl O. Hinck of South Bristol.
In addition to his wife, Claus is preceded in death by a grandson, Jamison S. Hinck (son of Chris and Rebecca), and two sisters, Lee Loomis and Ingeborg.
Private graveside services will be at Harrington Cemetery in Bristol at the convenience of his family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coast of Maine Cremation and Funeral Service, Atlantic Highway, Waldoboro.
