Clayton Lee Feltis, 70, of Pemaquid, died April 2 at his home, surrounded by his family after a heroic battle with lung cancer. The son of Earl and Madelyn (Richardson) Feltis, Clayton was born April 1, 1938, in New Harbor. He was the husband of Phyllis (Blank) Feltis for nearly 48 years.
Clayton joined the US Navy, serving honorably for three years. He spent the early years of his life enjoying fishing, lobstering and spending time on the water. He and his wife became well known as independent bus contractors for the town of Bristol, providing transportation for Bristol students as well as Lincoln Academy for 15 years.
Clayton truly enjoyed friends and family, especially in his garage while working on outboard motors and small engines.
Surviving are his loving wife, Phyllis, of Pemaquid; six sons, Tim and wife Danielle of New Harbor, Chris and wife Brenda of Bristol, Dale and wife Sharlene of Bristol, Shawn and wife April of Nobleboro, Kevin and wife Mia of Pemaquid, and Michael and wife Julie of Wiscasset; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A service to celebrate Clayton’s life 11 a.m., Thurs., April 10, at the Chapel of the Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta, with Pastor Rick Newell officiating. He will be laid to rest, privately, at the New Harbor Cemetery.
