Clayton George Hoak, 92, passed away on June 30 at MaineGeneral in Augusta, with his family by his side.
Clayton was born in Waldoboro on Aug. 17, 1925, the son of Millard Hoak and Eda (Waltz) Hoak. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended schools in Waldoboro, graduating from Waldoboro High School in 1941. Clayton joined the Army Air Force and served from 1943 until 1946. After the service he worked many years as a construction supervisor for W. H. Hinman in North Anson and Bridge Construction Company in Augusta, until he retired in 1986.
He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Sterling, Dorothy, Cora, Leon, and Florence; wife, Irene Ryan Hoak (1984); infant daughter, Denise Hoak (1957); and long-time companion, Clarice Guisani (2016).
Clayton is survived by daughter, Patrice Tripp and husband Richard; sons, Clayton A. Hoak and significant other Annette Roy, Sterling M. Hoak and wife Kate, and John M. Hoak and wife Cinthia; grandchildren, Christopher Tripp, Michael Tripp, Eric Hoak, Lindsay (Hoak) Trovarello, and Sarah and Jeff Hoak; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside service and burial for Clayton at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, in Newcastle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clayton’s name may be made to the Maine Veterans’ Homes, Company C, 310 Cony Rd., Augusta, ME 04330; or to a charity of an individual’s choice.
