Cleveland Albee Page, 83, passed away April 24 at his home in Nobleboro after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 30, 1924, the son of Otis S. and Marjorie E. Page. He graduated from Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, in 1942 and was the class valedictorian. He was a WWII veteran, having served with the Army s 15th Weather Squadron in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.
After returning from the war, he attended Bowdoin College and graduated in 1947. He married Elizabeth Lincoln Page on May 30, 1948. He attended Boston University Law School, passing his bar in 1950. He was a member of the Maine Bar Association and was the oldest practicing attorney in Lincoln County.
He was past president of the Rotary Club; coached the Rotary Wheels Little League Team; was a band instructor at Lincoln Academy; past deacon of the Damariscotta Baptist Church; life member of the VFW; a 50-year member of the Masons, Alna Anchor Lodge AM 43-10 of Damariscotta; he owned and operated Lincoln Theater (formerly owned by his father Otis Page); and he was a long time licensed real estate broker and owner of Page Realty.
He was well known throughout coastal Maine for his musical talents. He played for many years at Lakehurst Dance Hall in Damariscotta. He was a member of the Royal River Philharmonic Jazz Band, the Sophisticated Swing Band in Venice, Fla., and made guest appearances with the Downeast Jazz Babies. He was well known for playing Sweet Georgia Brown at Lincoln Academy basketball games for sons Lincoln and Philip and grandsons for five decades, and at various tournament sites throughout Maine.
He was predeceased by brother Sherman Page.
He is survived by his wife; brother Otis S. Page, Jr. and wife Betty of Arroya, Cal.; sons, Lincoln, Philip and wife Gail of Nobleboro, and Bradley and wife Darcy of Mansfield, Tex.; daughter Julie Burnheimer and husband Scott of Gorham; grandchildren Todd Page, Sean Page, Holly Page, Ryan Burnheimer and wife Janelle, Eric Burnheimer, John Burnheimer, Sara Burnheimer, and Garrett Page; sister in-law Ida Atterbury of San Diego, Cal., brother in-law Frank Lincoln and wife Kathleen of Norwalk, Conn., sister in-law Priscilla Wheatley and husband retired judge John Wheatley of Marion, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in his memory can be made to Lincoln Academy Track and Field facilities.
There will be no funeral service. There will be a private family committal service at a later date. Arrangements by Coast of Maine Cremation and Funeral Services
