Col. Charles Hammond Bodley Sr., USMC Retired, of Belleair Beach, Fla., passed away July 11 after a short illness and a long meaningful life.
He was born March, 3, 1923 in Boston, Mass. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he had a distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps. While serving in the Marines, he obtained another degree from the University of Southern California. After retiring, he spent the next 40-plus years as a gentleman farmer in Lincoln County.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Patricia; and sons, Scott, and Charles Jr.
He leaves behind daughters, Karin (Fernando) Valladares, Nanci (Zuhair) Hattar, and Kristin (John) McCormick; and son, Brian Bodley.
Charles will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. with full military honors later this year.
