Constance Stewart Robie, 86, died peacefully on Feb. 25 at the Vicarage By The Sea in South Harpswell, following a long period of declining health.
Born July 24, 1920, in Milton, Mass., she was the daughter of John Stewart, Jr. and Betty Wilcox Stewart.
She graduated from North Quincy High School in 1938, and from Chandler Secretarial School in Boston, Mass. She was employed for several years as a bank teller in Quincy, Mass.
In 1942, she married Richard F. Robie, and following his service as an Army Air Corps fighter pilot in WWII, they resided in Hingham, Mass.
Together they were active members of the Neighborhood Club of Quincy, Mass., Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, and Cohasset Golf Club.
Following Richard’s retirement in 1982, they moved to Waldoboro to live on the farm, which had been in his family since 1845. Connie was a member of the Waldoboro Women’s Club, Waldoboro Historical Society, and Rockland Golf Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard F. Robie in 1997; daughter, Nancy S. Robie in 2001; and granddaughter, Bethany L. LaValley in 1981.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan R. Roscoe and husband Charles of Yarmouth, and Pamela R. LaValley of East Hampton, Conn.; grandsons, John C. Roscoe and partner Jennifer L. Minard of Sullivan, Steven S. Roscoe and fiancée Joy Woodworth of Dillon, Col., Jason A. LaValley and wife Rebekkah of Maplewood, N.J., and Matthew R. LaValley of East Hampton, Conn.; great-grandsons, Jackson G. and Noah J. LaValley of Maplewood, N.J.; brother, John T. Stewart of Rockland, Mass.; nephew, David S. Stewart; and niece, Jennifer L. Stewart.
Celebration of Constance’s life 11 a.m., Sat., March 3 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, with Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.
