Cosome Lee Palmer, 82, passed away on Nov. 12 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor.
She was born Aug. 1, 1925 in Alburgh, Vt., the daughter of the late Guy and Hazel Freeze Crossett. Cosome was a high school graduate and college graduate, receiving both her high school diploma and nursing degree in Cleveland, Ohio.
The highlight of her career was working as a registered nurse at the Toomey Pavilion, a place dedicated to children afflicted with polio. She owned Brookgate Lounge in Brook Park, Ohio.
She loved antiques and flea marketing and she collected glassware.
On June 20, 1980 she married Randy Palmer and they made their home in Newcastle. Cosome and Randy had attended first grade together in Whitefield (the Plains School) before Cosome s family moved to Ohio. Fifty years later they were reunited by family and married.
She had a true love for animals and will be remembered, as one of a kind, for her generosity to others.
She was predeceased by her son, James Philip Skelley; and first husband, Max Brook in 1968.
Survivors include her loving husband of 27 years, Rundlette (Randy) Palmer; granddaughter, Shannon Skelley of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons, Louis Natale of Waldoboro, Stephen Natale of Union, Duane Natale of Rockport; nephew, Gary DeRoehn of Mexico; and her beloved dog, China.
A private service will be held at a later date in the Kings Mills Cemetery in Whitefield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
