Craig Abraham Ladd, 60, of Somerville, passed away on June 25 at Country Manor in Coopers Mills.
Born March 14, 1947 in Stratton, Vt., he was the son of Paul R. Ladd, Jr. and Eva Hegemann Ladd. He lived many years in Wickford, R.I., where he ran a Volkswagen repair business.
Craig was an inventor, sailor, farmer, and multi-talented character. He moved his family to Maine, after finding the farm of his dreams, where he could raise his children.
He worked for Crowe Rope fabricating and repairing machines until his illness forced him to retire.
He is remembered by his friends and family for the tales he spun and the many random acts of kindness he performed.
Craig was predeceased by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Hannah, Marrion, Isaac and Molly Ladd, Emma Oster and Jennifer Ladd-Hepburn and her son, Jacob; and four brothers and sisters.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., June 30 at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta.
Family and friends are invited to Craig’s home on the Colby Road in Somerville, following the service, to inter his ashes and swap stories in celebration of his life.
