Crystal B. LaRue, 88, of Westbrook, passed away Dec. 24 with her family by her side. Crystal was born June 22, 1923 in Waldoboro to the late Claude and Alma (Barter) Fitch. She graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1940. She proudly worked for several years in Washington, D.C. as a stenographer for the War Department where she met and married the late George (Gene) N. LaRue. They lived for many years in Belfast, where they raised their daughters. Crystal worked for Woolworth’s Five and Dime and then Truitt Bros. shoe factory until her mother’s illness when she moved to Waldoboro to care for her. For the past five years Crystal lived in Larrabee Village in Westbrook.
Crystal was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Marie and Elizabeth, and her ex-husband Gene.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Linda Cramer and husband Chuck of New London, Conn., Ruth Dodge and husband Del of Jackson, and Robin Marsanskis and husband Jeff of Scarborough; sister, Janice Orff of Jefferson; grandchildren, Christine Roesler, Fred Storz, Jerry Reynolds, Rebecca Porter, Michelle Porter, Heather Sykes, Caitlin Noble and Leah Marsanskis; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Mercedes and Ashton Reynolds, Kyle Storz, Gregory, Jarvis, and Makayla Sykes, Bobby and Rochelle Porter, Riley, Alexis, Isabella, and Hayden Porter, and Lilly Noble.
At her request there will be no services. Interment will be at Grove Cemetery in Belfast at the convenience of the family.
